About Us

Westview-Fairforest Fire Department is located in the upstate of South Carolina, Spartanburg County. Being located just west of the city of Spartanburg and having one of the busiest call volumes in the county, the fire district has been deemed

THE WILD WEST!

WFFD was established in 1958 and Rescue 3 in 1961. Westview-Fairforest is a Special Purpose District and is supervised by a five member Board of Commissioners. Staffed by 24 full time employees, approximately 10 volunteers, and 20 part-time Fire and EMS employees, WFFD covers 19.3 square miles just west of the city limits of Spartanburg, one of the most populous areas in Spartanburg County. There are approximately 10,000 homes, 650 businesses, 20 churches, 7 schools, 8 motel/hotels, 7 apartment complexes, two major interstates highways (I-85 and I-26), and two major railroads.

WFFD is a combination Fire and EMS department. A Battalion Chief supervises each shift. Two front line engines are manned by a full time staff responding to fire, rescue, and medical emergencies with ALS (Advanced Life Support) capabilities. Along with the engines, two advanced life support ambulances, Rescue 3, are also staffed. Rescue 3 Unit 1 is staffed by two full time members 24hrs a day and Rescue 3 Unit 2 is staffed 24hrs a day seven days a week. Volunteers supplement the full time staff when the call volume overwhelms their capabilities and during major incidents.

WFFD operates on a radio frequency of 154.310. This is a shared frequency of all fire departments in Spartanburg County with the exception of Spartanburg Public Safety Fire Division. The alternate frequency, 154.025, is used by WFFD and Spartanburg Co. on mutual aid incidents. WFFD has it's own fire ground frequency of 154.130.
