ROCK YOUR SOCKS ON MARCH 21ST

Posted on March 15, 2024 in News

March 21st is World Down Syndrome Day

Every year on March 21, people all around the world come together to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day by wearing brightly colored, mismatched socks. March 21st is symbolic because people with Down syndrome have 3 copies of their 21st chromosome.

Socks were chosen because the karyotype of D chromosomes actually looks like mismatched socks!

Your socks can be mismatched or the craziest and most colorful socks you have, just whatever you like!  The idea is to get a conversation started, so when people ask you about your socks you can tell them, “I’m wearing them to raise awareness of Down Syndrome!”

Then tell them everything you know about Down’s Syndrome!  Stop the stereotypes!  ROCK YOUR SOCKS ON MARCH 21ST!
